BEIJING, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Three patriotic films that premiered on Sept. 30, a day ahead of the National Day, have all been granted an extended theatrical run for a second time in China following their tremendous market success there, according to the films' distributor Huaxia Film Distribution.

"My People, My Country," a film recalling important historical moments in China over the past seven decades, and "The Climbers," which depicts the real-life expedition of Chinese mountaineers ascending Mount Qomolangma in 1960 and 1975, were both given a one-month extended run until Dec. 31.

"The Captain," a cinematic portrayal of the real-life miraculous emergency landing of a Sichuan Airlines-operated Airbus A319 plane in 2018, will have its box office run extended to Dec. 29, Huaxia Film Distribution said.

All the three movies were previously given a one-month extended run until the end of November.

"My People, My Country" ranked the ninth on the total box office revenue chart of all films ever screened on the Chinese mainland by grossing more than 2.96 billion yuan (about 420 million U.S. dollars), followed by "The Captain" with a box office revenue of more than 2.87 billion yuan, showed figures from the China Movie Data Information Network as of Wednesday.

"The Climbers" has so far raked in a total box office revenue of more than 1.08 billion yuan on the Chinese mainland.
